I never used to be the type to melt over stuff like weddings, probably because of this and this. It just wasn't me to look at engagement rings or dream up wedding dresses. While I'm still not really that girl, the idea of love has totally changed for me over the years as I myself have experienced it incredibly, and I've watched so many friends fall in love too.
So, I'm very excited to share one of my favorite Instagram accounts, @Stone_Fox_Bride. If you aren't familiar, they're a bridal shop specializing in unique rings, dresses, veils and even everyday clothing.
What drew me to them is their kick ass approach to love and weddings. Not only is their Instagram account flourishing with awe-inspiring photos of love and life, but they tell the tales of their clients' engagement stories through images of the rings they buy. Some are sweet, some are funny, and some make me do a double take.
I pulled a few of my favorites for you. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did...
It's not the ring he proposed with... This one belonged to her step grandmother. He proposed while she was flossing her teeth. He handed her a note with a drawing of a ring on it and two boxes. It said "check yes or no".
On Christmas Eve he have her all three Alien VHS tapes and she was like WTF. A few hours later, before dinner, he got down on one knee and all her friends and family started screaming.
He took her out to celebrate 5 years of love. She'd never had Dim Sum so they dined and drank at Shangra-la and he surprised her afterwards with a trip to the Detroit Opera House with box seats to see Shen Yun - Chinese performing arts. During intermission, he asked her how many more dates she would go on with him and as she was responding with "18 million...554 thousand..." he had a ring in the cup of his hand and asked her to go "on all of them" with him.
Got drunk with my friends at a "sexy martini party" ended up going to another party and saw a boy with a beer in his hand. Walked up to him and stole his beer not caring because I was drunk and liked another boy. Ended up making out on the side of the house to be wingmen for our friends who made out next to us. Started dating and fell in love, him being my first everything, really. Dated for 5 years and made a "happy surprise!" baby together. Eloping in California tomorrow, 9 days after our anniversary. I mean it when I say he is my one true love.
They had been dating for eight years. One day she called him from Duane Reade and said "you want health insurance? You've got four days to ask me to marry you..." It happened that weekend over pizza in Gramercy Park.
It was their five year anniversary and he was screaming on that phone to a cab then he hung up and said "will you marry me?" Then they went for dinner at the same restaurant where they had their first date. Afterwards they walked out on the street and turned a corner ... All her friends and family were waiting at a rooftop bar!
I knew he was going to do it. I just didn't know when. It was one of those snowed in weekends and we made the most of it. We cuddled and stayed in bed and it was awesome. We walked to the park and had an amazing dinner with wonderful wine and I was expecting it then, but it didn't come. Finally a few days later he was going to take the dog for a walk and I turned around and saw something weird in the dogs mouth. I was totally confused and caught off guard. I turned and saw him on one knee attaching the leash to the dog. He asked "will you marry us?" I said "of course!!!" It was symbolic that the dog was part of it; he's like our child.
He woke her up really early one morning in April to take a walk and he was wearing his jacket and she was like wtf it's sixty degrees why are you wearing a jacket? Then he lead her to a gazebo, got down on both knees and said her name five times straight. Then he said will you be my wife?
